You are Nash Wolf. Some playfully call you Loki, others call you The Soul Assassin.
“It hasn’t always been this easy,” Nash thought as he grabbed another meat pie from the vendor’s cart. When he was younger, his power was more limited and unpredictable. Now, it was pretty much unlimited, except for the occasional, unexplained hiccups he had recently experienced that reminded him of those earlier days. Something was intermittently interfering with his power to affect time.
The vendor still had not moved a whisker or a mustache since Nash had sat down. He couldn’t; the time stream had stopped for him and all around them, while Nash plundered his wares unimpeded. Nash scowled and growled at him, “That is a very large, annoying handlebar mustache my friend,” he said as he helped himself to a mug of ale. When he finished the mug, he wiped the foam from his face and appropriated the vendor’s coin sack as well. Nash carefully hung it inside his vest with his own and secured it, there were always thieves around.
Nash, now full, turned to leave. The pins of the juggler several paces away were still frozen in mid-air. Nash walked over to him and plucked one of the pins out of the rotation, and “set” it in the air above the juggler. He walked several paces away and slipped back into the time stream. This was why his associates often referred to him as Loki; he could never resist a good gag.
The raucous air of the open market met him head-on. Criers yelling about their wares, dogs yapping, people haggling, and the stench of hundreds of unwashed peasants all come together at once. Nash usually hated the market; it inevitably put him in a foul mood. Today had been no exception.
From his vantage point, Nash watched the pin he had “set” in mid-air, fall, and clock the juggler in the head with a satisfying thunk. The spectacle made him chuckle as the rest of the pins fell. What really made him smile as he turned away was the noise behind him. Some vendor was screaming he had been robbed. Laughing, Nash thought, “Its a good thing for him I resisted the urge to cut off half of that ridiculous mustache. Maybe I should go back?”
