SA11

Nash didn’t like it one bit, but he couldn’t have a living witness. Part of his task was to be sure that the Kingdom of Kheozia was not suspected of taking part in an assassination. A witness saying she saw a man kill her sister, even though there was no proof, could cause a deeper look into the cause of death.

He plunged his dagger into her breastbone. He had to be careful not to go through clothing, the knife would cut through the clothing even though it left no wound on the victim’s body, and that could also raise questions. Time began moving for the Princess as the knife penetrated her, and her eyes met his.

The sad look in her eyes pierced his heart, and he knew instantly that this was his last kill. “I’m so sorry, little one,” he said and began to tear up as her lifeless body fell to the floor.

He also knew that it was going to be tough for staff to explain and accept two princesses dying on the same day in the same room. There would probably be an investigation, probably just mundane, but there was always the chance royalty may drag in a mage. An experienced mage may figure out how the two girls died, but all Nash could do for now was follow through with his plans and hope for the best.

Nash left the castle and made his way back to his room. Lilly was almost as he had left her, she had only moved a little bit. He wet his hands in the basin and slipped back into the time-stream. He toweled off and began to undress.

Lilly held the covers open for him as he slid into bed. Nash spooned her affectionately for a long time. He did not feel amorous after what he had done, but he did enjoy her warmth.

In the morning, Nash excused himself and left Lilly in the room. He gathered his horse and headed directly to his home in the forest. He had already decided what he was taking with him, and he packed quickly before beginning his journey south. He wanted to begin again, someplace where he was not known, and someplace he would never be found by anyone from Kheozia. His plan was simple, he would go south until he found a place where no one had ever heard of Kheozia.
